Ferry tour from Levanto to Portofino, a very cool experience!

Day-trip to Portofino

Typical Ligurian fishing village, with its colorful houses arranged in a semicircle around the famous Piazzetta, Portofino has become one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world, an exclusive destination for world-famous celebrities who spend their summer holidays in their Thousand and One Nights villas or mooring their dream yachts in the small harbor.

Worth visiting the Church of St. George and the Castello Brown, and of course, do not skip a relaxing aperitivo sitting on a waterfront terrace! It seems like prices are quite high (count 5€ for a coffee at the desk!), but once in a while, it can be cool to enjoy a star-like moment in a posh seaside destination 😉

Una gita a San Fruttuoso e Portofino

Ferry from Levanto to Portofino

Some time ago, we published a post giving you tips for a successful day trip to Portofino and San Fruttuoso, but if you prefer to spend only a few hours there, without hiking nor taking the train, you can take the ferry in Levanto.

The ferry runs only in summer, from July 2nd to August 31st, and only twice a week, on Monday and Friday.

Like the ferry to Porto Venere and the Cinque Terre, it leaves from the small pier at La Pietra, the tiny pink house on the rock on the extreme left of the beach.

Oasi Hotel, Levanto - La Pietra

The ferry leaves at 10.20 am and give you three hours of freedom in Portofino and a panoramic tour of San Fruttuoso before getting back to Levanto by 4.50 pm.

Tickets can be purchased directly on the dock fifteen minutes before departure at the white kiosk that works as the ticket office. The ticket costs 30€ and 15€ for kids till 11 years old.

* with bad sea conditions the service is obviously suspended.

P.S. Our favorite option is still taking the train to Camogli and then visiting San Fruttuoso and Portofino from there. Still, if you prefer to check other ferry options, we recommend this Tigullio service.
