Amfiteatrof Music Festival
The classic music festival Massimo Amfiteatrof is coming back on July 4th and we are already at the XXVIII edition!
Founded in 1992 as a tribute to the emotional bond between Levanto and the great cellist Massimo Amfiteatrof, the Amfiteatrof Music Festival was originally housed in the small cloister of the Annunciation Convent.
Today its headquarters is the churchyard of St. Andrew, but many concerts are located in special places, such as tiny square della Compera in the medieval district or in front of the local Loggia, the ancient seat of the Genoese Republic channel harbor…
Classical music concerts are also joined by experimental performances that arise from a mix of various artistic expressions and the cultural cycle Amfiteatr – off with a program that will include conferences and yet more music.
The program of the Amfiteatrof Music Festival 2019
The Massimo Amfiteatrof Festival, for more than a quarter of a century one of the biggest summer musical events in Italy, changed its name to Amfiteatrof Music Festival in 2017 and is now directed by Laura Canale, Tiziana Canfori and Fausto Cosentino.
The Festival will open and close with a cello concert. The opening will be on lovely medieval square della Compera on July 4th with Rebel Cello, a performance by cellist Stefano Cabrera and vocalist Flavia Barbacetto and the final concert will be in St. Andrew Church on September 7th, a solo recital by Giovanni Gnocchi.
You can check the detailed program on the new official website.
There are also two guest concerts by the Paganini Festival of Carro, planned on July 15th and 31st: a violin recital by Klaidi Sahatci, first violin of the Tonhalle Zurich Orchestra, with pianist Andrea Rebaudengo, and Of Witches and Devils, with violinists Luca Fanfoni and Daniele Fanfoni, cellist Massimiliano Fanfoni and pianist Chiara Cipelli.
The “Amfiteatr-off” cultural cycle returns with six appointments: on July 26th, August 7th, 11th, 23rd, 28th and September 3rd.
Conferences and concerts, but also a great mix of music, cinema and sciences.
