SenSuoSa in Levanto

Finally we come to the seventh edition of SenSuoSa in Levanto, or trails, sounds and flavors.

It’s a total sensory experience, an evening full of emotions, sharing, discovery, laughter, dishes and products of our tradition and good wine. In short, an evening you will remember with pleasure.

In the past three years we had more than positive results, so here we come to the sixth edition.

SenSuoSa events in Levanto

June 21

The route winds in the central part of the valley. Once left Levanto through the gate of San Martino, we’ll follow the ancient Via dei Monti to the hamlet of San Rocco Plan.

The route continues towards Ridarolo known since 1226. The village, with its linear structure, is placed on the ridge between the valleys of Ghiararo and Fontona streams. The church of San Giovanni Battista dates back to XIV with additions during XVI and XVIII.

From there, passing by the former Villa Taliacarne (sec. XVII), we’ll reach San Bartolomeo and its little countryside church (sec. XV) for whose feast on August 24th locals prepare the traditional négge, a kind of wafers bearing religious symbols.

SenSuoSa in Levanto

Upon arrival in Pastine, the lovely hamlet hosting us, we will be entertained and delighted by the performance of Trio Persa Légia with a tribute to Italian singer-songwriters.

At the end of the concert we will be enjoying a typical Ligurian dinner, with trofie with pesto (handmade fresh pasta with basil sauce), gattafin (fried ravioli stuffed with local herbs), a homemade typical cake and the wine from the valley of Levanto will be served too.

We’ll get back to Levanto by minibus. Departure around 10 p.m.

July 21

The tour takes place in the western part of the valley. Once left Levanto through the gate of San Martino, we’ll follow the ancient Via dei Monti to the village of Pié di Fontona.

From there the trail climbs to Chiesanuova, linear terraced village documented as early as 1165, at a short distance from Legnaro.

The village is divided into three groups at the center of which is the church of San Pietro. The underlying oratory of Our Lady of Grace contains a valuable table attributed to the so-called Master of Legnaro.

Upon arrival in Legnaro we will be overwhelmed and excited by the energy and talent of the students of the Royal Academy of Music of London, the oldest and most prestigious musical institution in Britain. The soloists of the Royal Academy of Music in London present a program of arias, duets and ensembles from Italian operas.

After the concert we will taste some dishes and products of the traditional cuisine of Liguria: pansoti with walnut sauce (fresh homemade pasta), salty rice cake, homemade dessert and the wine from the valley of Levanto will be served too.

We’ll get back to Levanto by minibus. Departure around 10 p.m.

August 23rd

Leaving the village through the door of San Martino, follow the ancient Via dei Monti up to Piano di San Rocco. The itinerary continues to the village of Gallona (news from 1276) where the traditional négge are prepared, a sort of pods bearing religious symbols distributed to the faithful on the feast of St. Bartholomew on August 24th.

On reaching the small church of the same name in the countryside (15th century), and past the former Villa Taliacarne (17th century), we reach the hamlet of Ridarolo, of which we have news since 1226. The village, with a linear structure , is placed on the hilly ridge between the valleys of the Ghiararo and Fontona streams. The church of San Giovanni Battista dates back to the fourteenth century with extensions of the centuries. XVI and XVIII.

Oasi Hotel Levanto, SenSuoSa

Upon arrival in Ridarolo we will be entertained by GVMN Musica Popolare, performing classic pieces and songs of the popular tradition. The MusicaNova Vocal Group of Levanto, founded in 1988, has a repertoire that ranges from classical polyphony to popular singing.

The evening menu includes Genoese minestrone, herbal salty cake and a homemade typical cake. We’ll be obviously drinking the wine of the Levanto valley.

We’ll get back to Levanto by minibus and the d the departure will be around 10 p.m.

Friday, September 13th

The itinerary of the last event of 2018 runs along the medieval Levanto, between fortification walls, churches, ancient public buildings, canal port and ethnographic museum.

Upon arrival in Piazzetta of Compera we will be overwhelmed and excited by the energy and talent of Japanese tenor Kentaro Kitaya and his wide repertoire ranging from opera, to lied and from living room romance. Miki Kitaya, who graduated in singing in Tokyo in 2003 and in piano in 2016 with a thesis dedicated to the relationship between opera singing and piano transpositions, will be at the piano.

The evening menu includes lasagne with pesto, Genoese cima (stuffed meat) and a homemade typical cake. We’ll be obviously drinking the wine of the Levanto valley.
